I am a board certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. I have been a nurse for over 20 years and the majority of my background comes from working in public health and child protective services. I am passionate about providing care that is both clinically effective and deeply human. My work is rooted in an evidence based approach, which means I rely on proven treatments, research and best practices to guide care.
My mindfulness-based therapeutic practice integrates a body-centered approach with Buddhist psychological models. Bringing awareness to the present moment in each session supports the observation of thoughts and impulses in real time as they come up. We’ll collaborate as we gain a deeper and more subtle understanding and felt-sense of the unfolding patterns that appear. Cultivating a relationship based on trust and open communication is the foundation of my compassionate and direct method.
Counseling is my second career as I spent well-over a decade working on an ambulance in EMS. I am passionate about showing up for people on their toughest days and helping support them through the inevitable challenges that life brings. No one should have to go through hard things alone. I particularly enjoy working with first responders, healthcare workers, veterans and teens as I have a great deal of care and comfort working with these individuals.
I attended Northeastern University and graduated with a BA in Sociology in 2008 and then attended Wheelock College Boston University and received a Masters in Social Work in 2012. As your psychotherapist I use an integrated mind-body approach to allow you to have the space to identify areas of concern and goals to work towards.
I am a licensed professional counselor with a Master's in Counseling Psychology from Lesley University. I've been Licensed in Colorado since 2004 and have worked at community mental health centers, hospitals and in private practice. I have done additional training in the areas of EMDR, sex therapy, Jungian therapy, IFS and transpersonal therapy.
I graduated from Lamar University in 2018 with a Masters Degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. My work has included treating severe anxiety and depression along with other mood disorders, psychosis and personality disorders, helping children, adults and families involved in the child welfare system, trauma-based therapy and assisting families in developing better systems and healing their relationships.
I know that reaching out for help can feel daunting, and I truly admire your courage in taking this step toward better mental wellness. As a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner who cares deeply about mental health, I'm here to offer you a warm, safe, and supportive space where you can comfortably share your experiences and challenges.
