I am a licensed clinical social worker with experience working with children, adolescents, and adults through anxiety, depression, and major life transitions. I have also worked in addiction treatment and understand how complicated and deeply personal that process can be. I strive to be warm, authentic, and easy to talk to, not overly formal or clinical. I believe people heal best when they feel safe, respected, and genuinely supported. My goal is to create a space where you feel comfortable being yourself.
My approach is always affirming and collaborative. I work with late diagnosed, or suspected adults with autism spectrum disorder, ADHD, and giftedness, as well as LGBTQ+ community. I aim to treat each person with the respect and dignity they deserve and feel honored to meet you where you are & take this journey with you. I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in Florida & a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor in Ohio. I completed my professional degree at Nova Southeastern University (FL)

I will give you the tools to change your world.
My philosophy is practical and straightforward
with an emphasis on personal responsibility.
My approach is caring and supportive, but firm and result oriented.
My name is Heather Thompson and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW). I came into this field after being helped and inspired by an LCSW in my own therapy as a teenager.
I use a warm, nonjudgemental approach with other evidenced based practices. I also find it helpful to build on the strengths you already have.
I have been a therapist since 2002. I believe in a laid back, and open "fire side" chat format to counseling. I started my career in a Christian Counseling setting with adolescents and families which progressed over to couples and eventually crossing to the LGBTQ and alternative lifestyles such as kink aware. I hold a Masters in Counseling Education from the UCF. I have learned over the years not to take myself too seriously and one should always be open and ready to adjust to change and growth.
I believe therapy works best when you feel comfortable being fully yourself. My goal is to create a space where you feel safe, understood, and never judged, while also being supported in making real, meaningful changes in your life.
Clients often share that they feel at ease talking with me, but also appreciate that I’m honest and help them look at things in new ways. I’m not here to just nod along. I’m here to help you understand yourself more deeply, recognize patterns that may be keeping you stuck, and figure out what actually works for you moving forward.
I take a collaborative approach, which means we work together to make sense of your experiences and build tools that fit your life. Therapy does not have to feel cold or overly clinical. It can be a space that feels genuine, supportive, and even a little lighter at times, while still doing the deeper work.
I offer a compassionate, honest, supportive and tailored approach to individuals and families seeking therapy. I connect with a diverse population of individuals, from all walks of life and varying ages who suffer from depression, anxiety, trauma and family conflict.
