Led by my own life experience with mental health and grief and fueled by my work in private practice, I strive to provide support to all kinds of people experiencing all types of loss. Together, we can navigate the storms and celebrate the rainbows that await on the other side. Whether you are experiencing the loss of a loved one, going through a significant life change, or simply feeling overwhelmed by the challenges of daily life, I am here to support you.
I am a clinically trained psychotherapist practicing in NJ, NY, MA, and PA. I work with individuals, couples, and families across all ages—from children and teens to college students and busy professionals. I also have experience supporting married couples facing marital challenges.
Coping with a sever Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) for the past 20+ years allowed me to experience both side of the counselor-counselee dynamic. I conduct honest, in-depth conversations that allows clients to feel at ease with the self-directed decision they make to bolster their personal, educational, or vocational pursuits.
I earned my MSW from Rutgers University after changing from Engineering to Psychology during my undergraduate years. I primarily focus on trauma work but have a wide-ranging skillset and have worked with chronic pain, depression, anxiety, grief/loss, identity issues, relationship and communication issues, and more. I have worked with a variable population, of multiple genders, sexual orientations, races, and cultures; I am also LGBTQIA+, ENM, and kink affirming/supportive.
My clients are often standing at the edge of something new—sometimes by choice, sometimes by circumstance. They may be adjusting to a major life transition: a marriage or a divorce, the birth of a baby, a new diagnosis, a career shift or a personal loss. Some are navigating moments of crisis or reckoning. Others come to therapy not because something obvious has changed, but because they need something to change.
What they share in common is a sense that their old tools are no longer working the way they used to. Maybe what once helped them feel in control—over-functioning, people-pleasing, avoiding conflict—is now creating more disconnection than relief. Maybe the strategies that used to help them cope are starting to feel brittle or self-limiting. They might be asking: Why is this so hard now? Why am I feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or off-center in a season when I thought I should be thriving?
If you’re in a season of transition—or longing for one—I welcome you to reach out. Therapy can be a steady place to land while you find your footing again.
My name is Leilani and I’m a dual-certified Family and Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, and I believe feeling heard is just as important as any treatment plan. My background in both primary care and mental health, along with my experience as a military veteran and spouse, helps me understand how stress, health, and life experiences are often deeply intertwined. I work with adults facing anxiety, depression, trauma, and big life transitions, and I take time to listen before offering guidance. My goal is to create a calm, supportive space where we can talk things through together and move forward in a way that feels manageable and right for you.
